Veracross Rostering Integration

Automate and streamline your student and class data management in ManageBac with the new direct Veracross integration—making roster syncing simple, secure, and reliable for IT admins.

The new Veracross rostering integration lets you connect your Veracross SIS directly to ManageBac, providing a seamless way to keep your students, teachers, parents, and class enrolments perfectly in sync. With just a one-time credential setup, you can automate updates on your schedule and ensure your data remains accurate and up to date.

Designed for IT administrators, this update removes manual imports and enables ongoing data maintenance with full control, clear oversight, and confidence that only relevant, matched class data is imported. Getting started is straightforward and brings ManageBac to full feature parity with existing Clever-based workflows.

The Veracross SIS integration is available as a new partner application in ManageBac.

Overview

This release introduces a direct, automated integration between ManageBac and Veracross, allowing your school to keep student, teacher, parent, and class data in sync without manual intervention. Available for IT and system administrators, the integration matches all the capabilities you expect from OneRoster-based Data Exchange integrations, with streamlined sync options and fine-tuned control over class roster matching and unmatched section handling. To use this feature, your school must use Veracross as your SIS and have the Veracross Rostering module enabled on your ManageBac subscription.

What's New

  • Dedicated Veracross section under Settings > Data Exchange > Veracross
  • One-time credential setup (OAuth2 Client ID, Secret, and School Route) via the Partners page
  • Configurable class rostering and unmatched section handling
  • Manual and scheduled roster syncs—bulk and incremental (delta)—to keep data up-to-date
  • Review tab for unmatched sections, preventing data errors before import
  • Exchange History log with download links for every import run

Step-by-Step Navigation

Setting Up Veracross Rostering Integration

Settings > Partners > Veracross

  1. Request OAuth2 credentials (Client ID, Client Secret, and School Route) from Veracross if you don't already have them.
  2. In ManageBac, navigate to Settings > Partners > Veracross.
  3. Enter your Client ID, Client Secret, and School Route in the provided fields.
  4. Click Save Changes. Your credentials and API permissions will be validated automatically.

Enter your Veracross-issued credentials and activate the integration under Partners settings.

Configuring Class Rostering and Matching

Settings > Data Exchange > Veracross > Config

  1. Navigate to the Config tab in Settings > Data Exchange > Veracross.
  2. Enable or disable class rostering as needed.
  3. Choose how to handle unmatched ManageBac IB classes—archive all unmatched, or only those with a blank class ID.
  4. Review the Review sub-tab for any unmatched Veracross sections, and manage class matches as necessary.

Configure rostering and review match status in the Config tab.

Running Imports and Scheduling Syncs

Settings > Data Exchange > Veracross > Import / Schedule

  1. Go to the Import tab to perform an initial Bulk sync. Select Bulk and click Run Import to import all people and class enrolments.
  2. Once the bulk sync completes successfully, access the Schedule tab.
  3. Enable automatic delta syncs, and select the desired interval (every 2, 4, 8, or 24 hours).
  4. Optionally, review the Exchange History tab for logs and downloadable OneRoster files of previous imports.

Run manual imports or configure automatic scheduled syncs to keep data fresh.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Set up and validate your credentials before mapping or importing any classes.
  • Always create IB classes in ManageBac first, and ensure class IDs align with the corresponding Veracross section IDs for roster matching.
  • Use the Config > Review sub-tab regularly to resolve unmatched sections before running additional syncs.
  • If you're familiar with Clever or other OneRoster-based integrations in ManageBac, you'll find the Veracross flow intuitive and consistent.
  • Start with a manual bulk sync before enabling automated sync schedules for maximum control and confidence.

Warnings & Important Notes

  • ManageBac does not create new classes—it only populates enrollments for IB classes that already exist and are matched by class ID.
  • Unmatched Veracross sections are excluded from imports. Address unmatched sections using the Review tab.
  • Household/contact info is not synced in this release—only students, teachers, parents and their enrollments.
  • Staff, faculty, and parent data is always fully refreshed on each sync (not filtered by date).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to recreate my classes in ManageBac after connecting Veracross?

No. You must create your IB classes in ManageBac first. The integration matches Veracross sections by class ID in existing ManageBac classes and imports enrollments for those matched classes only.

Will the integration update household or contact information?

Not in this release. Only people and class enrollments are imported; household addresses and detailed contact records are not currently synced.

How do I trigger delta (incremental) syncs?

Perform a full bulk sync first. Delta syncs and the automatic schedule toggle are enabled only after the first successful bulk import to prevent data issues.

Is any data written back from ManageBac to Veracross?

No. This integration is strictly one-way: Veracross → ManageBac. Changes in ManageBac do not affect your Veracross records.

In Summary

  • Veracross integration automates roster syncs, reducing manual work and errors.
  • Setup is secure and straightforward, and sync schedules can be tuned to your needs.
  • Only unmatched classes require manual intervention—matched class imports are automatic and reliable.
