Schedule parent evenings
The Parents Association is a group that lets schools post announcements and calendar events for parents. You find it under Groups.
-
As an administrator, go to Settings > School Settings > Key Academic Functions. Under Academics Configuration, tick Parents Association and select Save Changes.
-
Go to Groups > Parents Association > Calendar > Add Event.
-
Enter the Name, Category, Location and Date & Time. Under Additional Grades, choose the grades to share it with, then select Add Event.
Events are shared with all parents in the selected grades. You cannot share an event with individual parents.
Schedule virtual parent evenings
You can schedule online meetings and parent evenings. In Parents Association > Calendar, select Add Event, then use the Create Zoom Meeting button next to Location in the event form.
Prepare parents
- If parents will sign in to ManageBac+, ask them to read Navigating ManageBac+ as a Parent. Signing in before the meeting lets them review their child's homework and grades so they come prepared.
- Ask parents to follow the Password guide to create a strong password that is easy to remember.
Each parent needs a unique email address to sign in to ManageBac+.
Find students during the meeting
If you share your screen with parents, protect other students' privacy by using the Search bar at the top of the page. Type the student's name and choose School Directory to go straight to them without showing anyone else's information.
You can also keep a year group open and move from student to student in the Members tab.
Show grades and reports
From the student's profile
-
Go to Classes > your class > Members and select the student.
-
On the student's profile, select any of their classes under Academic Overview to see more detail.
-
Scroll to Reports and choose the term. Select View Web Report or Download PDF Report.
Give teachers Proofing & Review access
Proofing & Review lets users see students' term grades in all their classes, not only their own. This is useful for counsellors and teachers who need the full picture.
Proofing & Review also lets users edit term grades. Give it only to the people who need it.
-
All teachers: go to Settings > User Permissions > Teachers & Advisors > Default Permissions and set Reports to Proofing & Review. Full Access also includes the Reports tab for generating reports.
- Individual teachers: go to Settings > User Permissions > Teachers & Advisors > Individual Permissions.
For more detail, see Managing User Permissions & Security.
Use the Proofing & Review page
Go to Insights > Reporting > Proofing & Review and select the programme. You can view grades from all classes by subject or by student.
Homeroom advisors can also go to My Workspace > Homeroom > Term Grades. Filter by programme and academic term, then select the student from the roster or search by name.
Export grades for parents to view offline
-
Task grades: Classes > Select Class > Gradebook > Tasks > Export Task Grades.
-
Term grades: Classes > Select Class > Gradebook > Term Grades, then Export Term Grades in the Details panel.
Share a student's portfolio
-
Go to Portfolio, choose the programme, grade level and student. Open the Details panel and select Generate Portfolio Timeline.
When it is ready, the Portfolio Timeline Export appears in the Details panel. Download it to share with parents, keep a copy or print it.
You can also open a student's profile (for example from the Search bar) and select the Portfolio tab.
