Teachers can keep track of their students' engagement in their online classes using a number of identifiers on ManageBac.
Online Presence Indicator
The Online Presence Indicator is the green dot that appears next to the user's avatar across ManageBac when they are online on ManageBac.
When the user exits ManageBac (either by closing out the browser window or exiting the app), the green dot will no longer be displayed to other users, signifying that the user is offline.
This is enabled by default, but schools can disable this for the entire school under Settings > Security & Permissions and unticking Show Online Presence Indicator.
Last Accessed Audit Log
The Last Accessed audit log on the students' profiles can be used to indicate when the student last accessed their ManageBac account. Only the most recent access to ManageBac will be displayed. It is not possible to view a full list of the student's activity on ManageBac.
The Last Accessed date and time is based on the timezone selected under your school's settings (via Settings > School Settings > Name, Address & Logo), and not based on the timezone of the individual student.
This is also displayed in the Class's Members tab,
as well as the Year Group's Members tab.
For admins who need a broader overview, you may use the School Directory to filter for the Last Accessed date in descending order to see the students who most recently accessed their accounts.
Note: this view does not display the Last Accessed Time, just the Date.
Admins can also use the export function for Students & Parents Information on the right navigation panel if they need to see the Last Accessed Date in a spreadsheet format.
Task View History
Teachers can also use the View History on the right-hand panel of the task details page to see a list of students that have viewed the task.
Reviews & Progress
Advisors can monitor recent student activity for CAS, SA, SL and Projects via the dashboard > Reviews & Progress
They will see the latest activity for any of their assigned students, such as the addition of a new experience to their worksheets or any interview notes posted.
Further to this, there is also the option to sort by All Students or My Students and filter by grade level in the programme.
Configuring E-mail Reminders
Within the CAS/SA or SL tab of a year group, you will see the option on the right-hand panel to Manage E-mail Reminders.
Here, you will see the options to configure an automated email reminder for students:
- When students have not added or updated CAS Experiences in the past 14 days.
- When students have not logged in during the past 14 days.
You will be able to set how often these reminders are sent out and add your own text as a prompt for the students. It is important to note that these reminders would need to be configured separately within each grade level.
