With the newly updated integration between ManageBac and AssessPrep, teachers can now create AssessPrep online assessments using ManageBac Tasks and link them together.
Creating a ManageBac Task in a Class
Adding Points-based DP and non-IB Task
Via the Class > Tasks & Units
Teachers would need to first create a ManageBac task which can be then linked to the AssessPrep assessment.
Via the class Tasks & Units tab, teachers can create tasks by clicking on Add Task on the top-right.
Complete the following required fields. The fields marked with "*" asterisk are mandatory.
Student Differentiation
Teachers can choose which group of students the task (online assessment in this case) is assigned to. This can be selected in the Student Differentiation section. They can choose to assign it based on the students’ level (HL or SL for IB DP for example) or they can choose a specific set of students to which to assign the task.
Only the assigned students will have access to the AssessPrep assessment on their accounts. The students that have not been assigned to the task will not see it, nor will teachers be able to grade these students for this Task.
Teachers must select a Point-based assessment and set the Max Points for each Task.
Teachers can Save as Draft to hide the task from students & parents.
Teachers can also choose the option to Notify Students via E-mail and then click on Create Task to create the Task or Add Another Task which creates the Task and redirects to the Add New Task page.
Note: Dropbox can be left disabled if you are planning to link the ManageBac task with AssessPrep assessment.
Adding a Criteria-based MYP task
Via the Class > Tasks & Units
Teachers can add tasks to classes via the MYP class' Tasks & Units tab and click Add Task. Task creation for the MYP task is similar to DP Tasks.
The only difference is that for MYP Assessments created via ManageBac, the teachers would need to select the criteria as the assessment medium. If the points-based assessment is selected while creating the task, it will be overridden by the criteria assessment once the task is linked with the AssessPrep assessment.
Linking AssessPrep Assessment with the ManageBac Task
While creating a new task, you can link an AssessPrep assessment to the task via Submission Type > AssessPrep Online Assessment > select either Create Online Assessment or Link Online Assessment.
You can link an AssessPrep Assessment to an existing task via the Task > click on Edit Task > Submission Type > select either Create Online Assessment or Link Online Assessment
Creating a new Online Assessment (Test)
If "Create Online Assessment" is selected, as shown in the screenshot below, you are required to fill out the Delivery Mode, Start condition and Close Condition.
Mode:
Any browser - Allows the students to write such assessments via any available browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc using active internet. Browser-based assessments are widely used for formative assessments, research work, online learning, etc. These assessments require less security and students are allowed to access other computer and internet resources during the exam.
Any browser with Security- Allows the students to write such assessments via any available browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc. using active internet, but with medium security. Once the student starts the online assessment, the browser will enter the full-screen mode. In this mode, the students will not be allowed access to any other web browser, tab or application during the online assessment.
Lockdown Application - Allows the teachers to deliver the exams via a highly secure application, which operates in lockdown mode i.e. high security. The application does not allow the students to copy-paste, take screenshots, access any other web browser during the online assessment. The application requires active internet to download the online assessment and submit the final responses online. However, during the online assessment, if the internet disconnects the students can still complete the online assessment without any interruptions and it will export the student responses in an encrypted format to the computer desktop.
Once the assessment is created, you can select the "Edit in AssessPrep" button will redirect you to your AssessPrep account where you can start adding the content to the online assessment, following the steps shown in Part II - Adding Content and Questions to your assessment of the guide Creating an Online Assessment via AssessPrep
AssessPrep Online Assessment will appear in the Task Details of the ManageBac Task. To easily access the AssessPrep Online Assessment, an Open in AssessPrep button has been added next to the Assessment.
