Whether you're starting from square one or you're looking for a refresher, we've got you covered! This guide highlights some of our most useful Help Centre articles for getting started with ManageBac as a teacher.
Important
Teachers are synonymous with Advisors in ManageBac. Both terms are used to reflect commonly used terminology from our schools around the world. Teacher permissions can be customised by an Admin via Settings.
1. Signing-in & Accessing ManageBac
To protect your school's ManageBac data and your class data, we recommend for teachers to create Password that are hard to guess and generally easy to remember. Feel free to use any suggested passwords or random passwords generated by your browser, or create your own.
A pass phrase of 3 or 4 random words with spaces in between could be considered hard to guess but relatively easy to remember. We do not recommend to save your password to any browser on computers that are not your personal devices.
2. Navigating ManageBac
The left main menu is the same or similar for all teachers. The default landing page is your Dashboard. Each teacher will see personalised information on the Dashboard based on Year Groups, Classes and Groups they belong to. The centre panel of the Dashboard shows a calendar, upcoming items and classes a teacher is linked to. This provides direct access to all teacher relevant information.
Use the top of the page global search bar or QuickAdd menu for shortcuts from any page in your ManageBac account.

3. For Classroom Teachers
For the majority of schools, teachers will not have to create their own classes. Those are usually configured for teachers by the school. In cases where teachers are asked to create their own classes, we strongly encourage teachers to review our help article on Adding Classes linked below first.
All classes in ManageBac show the same default tabs from left to right: Overview to Tasks & Units, Gradebook, Discussions, Calendar, Files, Members. Schools where attendance is also recorded in ManageBac can configure Class Attendance as an additional tab. In certain academic programmes, programme-specific additional tabs such as Orals, IA etc can be added to classes.

4. For Project Advisors
Depending on the programmes your school uses ManageBac for, you may be assigned as Advisor or Supervisor for one or more projects. All projects are accessible via the Year Groups menu and top tabs of each Year Group. If you are assigned as Project Advisor/Supervisor, your students will be listed at the top of each project roster page.
5. User Management
All teachers can edit and manage their profile via the top right avatar icons. Some teachers may also be able to access their students' profile to assist with password or welcome emails sending, but this access would have to be configured by the school. Schools can lock or unlock student and parent profiles.
