Standards tagging in Class Streams
August 18, 2025
The Standards Tagging feature allows teachers to connect students’ work on the Class Stream to the Units and Curriculum Standards they’re teaching in their classes. This creates a clear connection between the Learning Outcomes covered in the class and students’ evidence of learning. By tagging standards, teachers can highlight the skills and competencies students are demonstrating, while grounding them in the curriculum.
Teachers can tag from any standards available on ManageBac, including IB DP Syllabus, Pearson, Cambridge, PYP Scope & Sequences, and all Standards available in the Standards Repository or added as Custom Standards sets, providing broad coverage across all classes.
See our Configuring and populating Class Streams in Classes guide for more information about Class Streams.

New Web Portfolio for all Year Groups
April 15, 2025
The Portfolio Roster has been redesigned to simplify the user flow and reduce clutter. The grade and student list have been combined into a single page, making it easier to navigate between students.
The process for adding Evidence of Learning has been simplified to support younger students better and reduce the burden on teachers. The modal for adding Evidence of learning includes large, user-friendly buttons for easier navigation, especially for primary-year learners.
After selecting a resource type, you are only required to enter a title and upload the file. Additional details such as descriptions, dates, privacy, or notifications can be optionally added by expanding the Add Details section.
A new Goals tab has been added to give students and teachers a dedicated space for organizing and tracking goals. While the tab provides focused visibility, goal updates will still appear on the Portfolio Timeline to preserve the context of a student’s learning journey. This change supports more intentional goal setting while keeping learning artifacts and reflections connected.

See our Data Exchange User Guide for full details and sample files.
Summary of updates to public API
March 20, 2025
We have made several changes to the public API endpoints for ManageBac+ since January this year. A summary of those changes can be seen in the API Manager > Changelog list. Please refer to the Enabling ManageBac+ Public API for Integrations guide for more details on using the public API.
The main focus of these updates is additional functions for schools using ManageBac+ for Attendance recording. Setting Homeroom attendance via API or submitting Attendance Excusal requests via API for example can enable schools to use external forms for excusal request submission or connect ManageBac+ to access via card swipe platforms.
Additionally, more extract functions for Attendance data have been added so that a more complete picture of Attendance information can be made available for schools.
We believe that ensuring the Attendance module is fully supported via API will facilitate ManageBac+ to remain the cornerstone of a school’s infrastructure. By having options for third-party systems to render ManageBac+’s Attendance data, a healthy school ecosystem can flourish.
