What is the District ResourceBank?
We define the District ResourceBank (DRB) as the specific bank of units (shown as a tab in the Import Units page) which a school group or district can add or import units to or from and which only they (schools in the school group / district) can see.
Units shared with the District ResourceBank are not part of our Global ResourceBank (GRB) by default and therefore do not have to go through an approval process. The units can also be shared with the GRB and would then have to go through the same approval process there as any other units shared in it.
The DRB shared units can be directly imported into schools' ManageBac instances if those schools were configured into a School Group / District in ManageBac.
Requesting the District ResourceBank and configure schools in it
The ManageBac team will need a list of all schools with ManageBac domains in the school group / district to enable the District ResourceBank for. This will take between 3 and 5 business days.
Once we receive this list and the ManageBac domains, we will link the schools on our end into the School Group / District so that the unit sharing features into the DRB will then be available for the schools on the list.
If additional schools need to be added to the group in the future, please reach out to the ManageBac team to have the school group / district list amended.
How do we share a unit plan with the District ResourceBank?
Select any unit in a class in one of the schools in the school group / district and open the right sidebar of the unit. Then select Share in District to upload the unit to the DRB. If any Unit Resources, Streams or Lesson Experiences are added to the unit in the Origin School, these will also be shared with the DRB.
How do we import units from the District ResourceBank?
From the Tasks & Units page in a Class, open the Import Units page from the link on the right sidebar.
Select the Group/District Bank tab in the Import Units screen. Then select the unit (1), any available Lesson Experiences (2) and applicable Stream Resources (3) you want to import from the Origin School into your class within your district / school group.
Select Proceed with Import or Proceed and Import Next (if you have more units to import from the DRB).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this available for all academic programmes?
Units can only be shared in academic programmes were subjects are default configured and not in any custom subjects schools can create for some academic programmes. The list of programmes with default subjects are: IB Diploma Programme, IB Career-related Programme (in default subjects) IB Middle Years Programme, Cambridge programmes (Lower Secondary, IGCSE, A-Levels in the default subjects), Pearson Edexcel programmes (GCSEs, BTEC, A-Levels in the default subjects) and Advanced Placement in the default subjects.
What fields get shared / imported?
If the Target School has unit template settings which hide aspects of the unit plan the Origin School has filled in, they will not show for the Target School. If the Target School has more than one unit template enabled for a programme, the original default template enabled in the Target School will be assigned to the imported unit.
Configureable content such as Approaches to Learning skills or Standards and Benchmarks cannot be shared / imported. These will need to separately be selected in the Target School imported unit plan.
The Target School has to have classes created in the same subject and grade level as the Origin School has shared the unit to the DRB from.
For example, a Biology subject unit cannot be imported into a Chemistry subject class in the Target school. A Biology class unit linked to the Sciences subject could be imported into a Chemistry named class that is linked to the Sciences subject though.
How can we search and filter for resources?
It is not possible to preview units in the import process. The only preview possible might be the list of Lesson Experiences or Stream Resources attached to a unit in the Origin School where that unit was shared to the DRB.
How are versions / revisions handled?
Imported units and any additional Unit Resources or updates made cannot be re-shared to the district.
Units that are shared with the DRB will not automatically sync the updates or get updated in the DRB. If a newer version of a unit needs to be shared with the DRB, the unit will first need to be removed from the DRB in the Origin School. Then updates can be made to the unit in the Origin School and it can be shared to the District ResourceBank again. The new version will need to be imported again in the Target Schools. The Target Schools can archive or delete any previous versions of the imported units in their ManageBac instance.
