Edit Student, Parent, and Teacher Information
Learn how to update individual user records and make bulk changes to user information in ManageBac+. This guide also explains how to update email addresses separately in bulk.
This guide explains how administrators can update student, parent, and teacher information in ManageBac+. You can either edit individual users directly from their profile or make bulk changes using a CSV import.
For bulk updates, it is important to use the correct workflow depending on the field you need to change. General user information can be updated through Import Manager, while email address changes in bulk must be completed through School Directory.
Overview
ManageBac+ provides two main ways to update user information. Use an individual user profile when you need to edit one account at a time, or use bulk tools when you need to update multiple records.
Active users can be found quickly using the top navigation Global Search. If you need to locate an archived user, go to Settings > School Directory and enable Include archived users.

Step by Step Navigation
Edit user information via Global Search or Settings > School Directory
- Use the top navigation Global Search to find an active student, parent, or teacher.
- If you need to find an archived user, go to Settings > School Directory and enable Include archived users.
- Open the user’s profile.
- Click Edit profile.
- Update the required fields, such as email address, password, student ID, date of birth, phone number, or first and last name.
- From the same page, you can also resend the welcome email or delete the user account if needed.
Bulk update user information via Settings > Import Manager
- Go to Settings > School Directory.
- Click Export Student & Parent Information or Teacher & Advisor Information to download the relevant spreadsheet.
- Open the exported spreadsheet and update the required user information.
- Make sure you keep any existing information that should remain unchanged, as omitted values may also be overwritten during the update.
- Go to Settings > Import Manager.
- Download the CSV template, then copy and paste the updated user information from the export file into the template.
- Select the updated CSV template and ensure Update existing student accounts is selected.
- Click Proceed to Review.
- On the next page, confirm that the format is correct, then click Yes, the format looks correct to apply the updates.
- If the import displays errors, correct the CSV and upload it again. If the issue continues, review the user import guide here or contact support@managebac.com.
Bulk update email addresses via Settings > School Directory > Bulk Update > Update E-mails
- Go to Settings > School Directory > Bulk Update > Update E-mails.
- Download the CSV template provided on the page.
- Enter the old email address and the new email address for each user you need to update.
- Upload the completed CSV to replace student email addresses in bulk.
- If a user has a verified email address and access to the Faria Accounts Portal, they must confirm the email change from a verification email sent to the new inbox.
Warnings & Important Notes
Archived users
Archived users will not appear in Global Search. To locate them, go to Settings > School Directory and enable Include archived users.
Password updates for verified accounts
If you attempt to change a user’s password from their profile, the system will prompt you to enter your own admin password as a security measure. If the user has already verified their email in the Accounts Portal, administrators cannot directly update the password and will need to resend the welcome email instead.
Bulk import limitations
All fields can be updated through Settings > Import Manager except the email address. To change email addresses in bulk, use Settings > School Directory > Bulk Update > Update E-mails.
Bulk password changes
If you attempt to update user passwords in bulk, the system will send a confirmation email and each user will need to click the link provided.
