Create your classes first. Then import timetables for all classes at Classes > See All Classes > Class Manager > Import Timetables, or set one class at a time from the class Attendance tab. Class IDs and academic year labels in the CSV must match ManageBac+ exactly.

Configuring class timetables and rotation days
For admins setting up class periods and locations, which schools need to track class attendance.
To track class attendance, create your classes first, then add timetables to them.

Import timetables for many classes
-
Go to Classes > See All Classes > Class Manager > Import Timetables.
-
Select Download the CSV to get the template.
-
Get your exact class IDs from Classes > See all classes > Export > Export to Excel. Your school database or student information system usually holds them too. For a reference of current timetables, use Class Manager > Export Timetables and see the Import Format sheet at the bottom.
-
Fill in one row for each class, day and period, using the rules in the table below.
Upload the CSV, review the timetable, then select Proceed.
If any rows fail, fix them and select Upload new CSV.
| Column | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Class ID | Exactly as it appears in ManageBac+ |
| Academic year (after Class ID) | The year as set in Attendance Settings, in the format [first month and year of first term] - [last month and year of last term]. Copy it from Settings > Academic Terms to avoid mistakes. |
| Weekday (column C) | Monday is 1, Tuesday is 2, Wednesday is 3, and so on. For rotation days, enter the rotation day number (1, 2, 3 and so on). |
| Period | No higher than the number of periods set for that day and year |
Use a normal hyphen or minus sign in the academic year. Some computers turn it into a longer dash when you press the space bar. Change it back if this happens.
Fix common import errors
Line 1: long dash in the academic year
A long dash was used instead of a hyphen or minus sign. Use a hyphen and match the year label in Settings > Academic Terms.
Line 3: academic year does not match the class
The academic year in the CSV is not the year and terms linked to that class. Correct the class ID or the academic year.
Line 4: rotation days do not match settings
The number of rotation days must match Settings > Attendance & Calendar > Programme-Level for that academic year.
Line 5: period number too high
The period cannot be higher than the number of periods for that day and year in Settings > Attendance & Calendar > Periods.
Line 6: duplicate row
The same class ID, year, rotation day and period appears more than once. Each combination can only be listed once in the CSV.
Line 7: class ID not found
The class ID does not match any class. Export your classes to Excel first and copy the IDs from there.
Set one class's timetable
-
Open the class and go to the Attendance tab. If the class already has a timetable, select Attendance Settings.
-
Set the Day, Period and Location for each period the class meets.
Who can see timetables
Once classes exist, students are assigned and timetables are added, everyone can see their timetables.
