1. The student's Proposal
2. An option to set or edit the Subject, Topic and Research Question
3. A list of all EE-related deadlines (To add a new deadline, navigate back to the EE roster and click Add New Deadline. Once the deadline is created, you will have the option of adding additional To-dos for students.)
4. An opportunity to evaluate the student's progress and flag students of concern or excellence
5. A Notes & Interview section where you can communicate directly with students and log notes

Creating Extended Essay Worksheets

Via Settings > IB Diploma > Project-based Learning, administrators can click on Pre-built Templates to add the Extended Essay worksheets that will come pre-populated. Multiple versions of the worksheet can be added.

The Pre-built Templates will come pre-populated with all the requirements to support the Extended Essay. However, schools can customise them further by clicking on them. 

Via the Overview, Framework, Rubric, Forms and Terminology tabs, you can adjust the labels within each worksheet, as well as add additional sections or assessment options.

Note: we recommend not deleting any item already present on the pre-built template to ensure your worksheet supports all requirements for the IB Diploma.  

The Framework tab contains much of the configuration that will allow you to create a project fit for your needs. The options include:

1. Proposal - This allows you to create a set of requirements that students will need to complete before approving their proposal. Requirements can take one of four forms: text field, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdown menu.
2. Researcher's Reflection Space - This is the space where students enter their reflections throughout the year. The reflections can be in the form of Journals, Files, Websites, Photos and Videos.
3. Planning and Progress Form - Allows students to record their Reflections and teachers to submit their Comments which can be used later to generate the Extended essay - Reflections on planning and progress forms (EE RPPF)
4. Deadlines & To Dos - Enabling To Dos allows you to create deadlines linked to the project and specific To Do items for each Deadline. The Deadlines along with the to dos are displayed on the student's project worksheet.
5. Extended Essay Documents - Enables students and their Advisors to upload documents and store them on their EE Worksheets.
6. Notes & Interviews - Enabling this option allows students and teachers to send messages to each other on the student worksheet and it allows teachers to record interview notes, which are only visible to admins and teachers.

 

Assessment

Extended Essay Assessment criteria are pre-built in our template. However, both Project Assessment Rubrics and Term Grades Rubrics are customizable to allow schools to add additional assessment options. 

 

Submitting Extended Essay Term Grades

Via Year Group > Extended Essay click on Submit Term Evaluations from the right navigational menu to submit EE term grades and comments. 

 

Forms

Under the Forms tab, you can enable the option to generate EE RPPF. You can also associate the Template fields found in the Framework tab under the Planning and Progress Form section with sections of the EE RPPF form requested by IBO.

Terminology

The Terminology fields shown above allow you to create a Worksheet that will be familiar to your teachers and students based on local requirements or cultural terminology. The hint, located below each field, provides an explanation of what each term is referring to.

Use the Student Progress section to customise or add more overall progress indicators for your EE Advisors to evaluate their students. 

 

EE can be enabled within existing Year Groups via Year Group > Edit Year Group Settings, tick Extended Essay, Save Changes. Disabling the EE project will hide the tab from the Year Group but it will not delete the student data. To view the student data simply re-enable the project.

In order to choose which Extended Essay subjects are offered, select the overall DP subjects offered at your school. Navigate to Settings > IB Diploma > Subjects and tick all subjects that apply. After you have selected the DP Subjects offered at your school, navigate to the Extended Essay Subjects tab under Settings > IB Diploma > Subjects. From here you can enable the relevant Extended Essay Subjects and click Save Changes.
