Importing Subjects

To Bulk Import Subjects, via Settings > Select your programme> Subjects > Import Subjects. Download the CSV template and follow the instructions to list your subjects in the required format. Subject Group and Subject Name are mandatory fields.

When importing Subjects to an existing Subject Group, the Subject Group name must match the existing subject groups exactly.

To set the subjects for the following Programmes:

  • High School
  • Middle School
  • Primary School

Navigate to Settings > Select your programme > Subjects. You can choose to Add Subject Group, Subject, or Bulk Import Subjects.

You will need to add a new Subject Group firstly if no subject group has been added yet.

When adding new subjects, select the Subject Group that you added and then enter the Subject Name. Click Add Subject to save the change.

To Bulk Import Subjects, follow the instructions on the Import Subjects page. Ensure that both Subject Group and Subject Name are unique to avoid any import errors.

Use "SL" and "HL" to specify the subject levels. For mixed-level subjects, use SL/HL, or leave the field blank for subjects without a specific level.

When importing subjects to an Existing Subject Group, the Subject Group must match exactly. If the subject group entered in the CSV does not exist, a new one will be created.

Most Common possible import errors

The above-listed errors are most common, and a solution for each is listed below.

Error 1: The subject group entered does not match any existing subject group in the selected Programme. To resolve this, either check the existing subject group or download the Available Subject Groups to verify and make the necessary adjustments.

Error 2: The added subject already exists. To fix this, modify the subject name or delete the duplicate in the file and re-upload the file.

Via Options & Levels, specify the options (e.g. Core) and levels (e.g. Extended) for your subjects.

Configure Scope & Sequence (i.e. Standards)

The curriculum standards available for unit planning are configured via Settings > Primary Years > Curriculum > Standards.  Administrators can add Standards from our Standards library via the Add From Repository button. If you wish to access the PYP Scope & Sequences to configure scope & sequences for your school, please click the link in the Custom section of the Standards tab.

Click here to learn more about adding standards from the standards library.

In the Scope Sequences tab, click Request Custom Standards to request help with bulk importing standards. We can help to import these into your account, organised by:

Adding New Templates

Administrators can add multiple unit template options to ManageBac+ for their teachers to select from. A Unit template provides the framework for teachers to plan their units on.

To begin, navigate to Settings > IB Primary Years > Curriculum, and select Add New Template on the right navigation panel. Please note if your screen is zoomed in, this button may also appear at the bottom of the page.

Type in your custom template title, and select Create Template

Creating an Early Years Template

Once your template has been created, scroll down to the Approaches to Learning section.

Under the Set dropdown menu, select Early Years. This will populate the unit plan template with the Early Years specific Approaches to Learning options when teachers are writing their units.

Customising your Templates

To turn sections of your unit plan template on or off, tick or untick the boxes listed under the Plan box on the right-hand menu.

Each area listed in the unit plan template can be given customised titles and hints to better match your school's vocabulary.

Once done, click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

You can turn the ability to write section-specific Reflections on or off via the Reflections tab at the top of the page.
