Important
In this tutorial, we will be looking at importing recommended IB deadlines, adding custom deadlines to the IB deadline repository, adding one-off deadlines to your year group calendars, editing existing deadlines and how teachers and students can view these deadlines.
Adding a New Deadline
Adding a Deadline to the IB Deadline Repository
You can add a new reusable deadline to your IB Deadlines repository via Year Group > Calendar > Import Example Deadlines > Add New Deadline.
Deadlines created here will be stored permanently and can be re-imported from year-to-year.
Fill in the form with the Name (1) and Description (2) of the deadline. The deadline must be linked to an IB category from the dropdown menu (3).
You can choose to enable the Dropbox (4) to allow students to submit their work online. Set a Due Date and time (5) and Add Master deadline (6). The imported deadline will appear in the calendar of all students and a record of the deadline will be stored in the repository, which can be found via Calendar > Import Example Deadlines.
Importing a Deadline added to the IB Deadline Repository
You can import deadlines which you have previously added to the IB Deadline Repository via Year Group > Calendar > Import Example Deadlines. Here, search for the deadlines you have added using Filter. Select the the checkbox for the deadline which you wish to add and Add Resources to import the deadline
Adding a One-off Deadline
You can add a singular instance of a deadline for an entire Year Group by navigating to Year Group > Calendar > Add to Calendar > Add Deadline:
One-off deadlines can also be added via the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge tabs.
- Enter a Name
- One-off deadlines will give you the option to link to EE or ToK worksheets
- Add Notes
- Set a due date and time
- You can choose to enable the Dropbox to allow students to submit their work online.
- If your school has enabled the integration with Turnitin, you will see the option to Enable Turnitin
Please note the Student Differentiation feature will allow you to select specific students to share the deadline with opposed to sending to all members of the class.
Once these have been set, select Add Deadline to confirm. The deadline will then appear in the calendar of all students in the Year Group:
Please note the following:
1. At least one actionable To-Do is required in order for the deadline to appear on student worksheets.
See the following guides for more information on To-Dos:
2. You will be unable to select a deadline category if the option to Link To has been selected.
Deadline Categories
You can manage your Deadline Categories via Year Group > Calendar > Manage Categories > Deadline Categories
Here, you will be able to:
- Edit existing deadline category name
- Adjust the color of the deadline category label
- Delete existing category
- Add new deadline categories
The new categories will then appear as options to select when creating new, or editing existing deadlines, remember to Save Changes to save the edits made. Please note that assigned categories cannot be deleted by teachers or admins. If you wish to delete an assigned category, please contact support@managebac.com
Viewing a Deadline as a Student
Students will be able to view IB deadlines via their personal Year Groups > Calendar > Deadlines:
Please note that the terminology for the Year Group Manager is customisable and may be labelled differently at your school.
See our guide on Configuring School General Settings (Languages, Academics, Year Levels, Terms) for more information.
Viewing a Deadline as a Teacher/Admin
Teachers/Admins can Filter the Year Group Calendar by deadline category via Filters on the right and Subject Group via Filter by Type for a more targeted view. These filters can be reset to allow teachers to view all deadlines, events & tasks on the calendar:
Locking/Unlocking Submissions to Deadlines
Select a Deadline with ManageBac+ Coursework submissions enabled. Teachers and admins can lock and unlock submissions for individual students via the lock icon next to student's name or for all students in the year group per deadline via Lock All Submissions.
