Reviewing CAS Experiences

Supervisor reviews are a way for specific experience supervisors to comment on the student’s progress, effort and commitment. In ManageBac+, you can integrate these comments directly into the student's CAS Worksheet.

How to send a Review Request

In order to obtain an online CAS Review from their experience supervisor, students must add at least one Reflection to the Reflections & Evidence tab. Their CAS advisor must also mark the experience as Approved. Only then will the Request Supervisor Review button be available. Either the student or the CAS advisor can click on this to send an email request to the supervisor.

The Supervisor's view

Once the Request Supervisor Review button is pressed, ManageBac+ will send an email to the supervisor. Please note supervisors do not have to have registered accounts on ManageBac+ to fill out the linked survey - anyone with a valid email address is eligible to receive email notifications.

The supervisor will click on the link in their email to complete a survey about the student's participation. They will be asked to comment on the student's progress. They will also be asked to tick each outcome the student completed successfully, and confirm the student completed the experience successfully. When they are done, they can click Submit Final Review to add the review to the student's worksheet.

Reviewing multiple students

In-school supervisors who are supervising multiple students' experiences can see who they still need to write reviews for via Dashboard > Reviews & Progress > CAS > Reviews. They can also filter by Pending, In Progress, Reviewed and Incomplete on the top of the page.

If the supervisor is leading a CAS Project via the Groups tab, they can also use the group to review their students. To learn more, click here.

Resetting a review

Once a review is submitted the details of the CAS supervisor for that experience are locked. If for example, you need to update the Supervisor name or email or wish to re-review the experience, you will need to first confirm to reset the existing review.
Navigate to the experience > click Supervisor Review > on the right side click Reset Review.

You will then be able to navigate back to the experience and review once more, or edit the experience, update the email address accordingly and click on Save Changes.

Monitoring CAS Supervisors

Via Dashboard > Reviews & Progress > CAS

CAS or DP coordinators can track their supervisor review progress via Dashboard > Reviews & Progress > CAS. On the right-hand side there are two options:
  1. Access the Supervisor List
  2. Message Supervisors

1. Supervisors List

The advisors who have review requests Pending, In Progress, Reviewed and Incomplete will show in this list. Those with no requests are not shown. The list outlines the total number of requests sent to the supervisor, the amount incomplete, and broken down into In-school or Out-of-school supervisors.

2. Message Supervisors

Via Message Supervisors, you can email all supervisors. A subject and message are required. This will be sent as an email once Send Message is clicked.

Reviewing students' CAS Reflections & Evidence pieces

CAS Advisors and administrators can review students' reflections and evidence pieces for all CAS experiences via the student's CAS Worksheet > Browse Reflections & Evidence page.

This would allow the user to view reflections filtered by type, Learning Outcome or CAS Experience.

It would also allow the CAS Advisor or admin to review the CAS Reflections and Evidence pieces for multiple students using the arrow icons at the top of the right navigation panel. This reduces the need for CAS Coordinators to open specific CAS Experiences to see which reflections students posted for each of their Experiences.

At the same time, from the right navigation panel, the Reflections and Evidence can be exported to PDF in the CAS Documents section for a student.
