Marking and Managing Task Grades

This guide explains how teachers can access task gradebooks, enter marks and comments, manage task results visibility, annotate coursework submissions, and export task grades in ManageBac+.

Teachers can mark tasks from the Gradebook > Tasks tab, where they can select individual tasks, enter marks and comments, review student progress, and manage task result visibility.

Where coursework submissions are enabled, teachers can also annotate student submissions and assess work in a split-screen view. Administrators and teachers with full Classes permission can also bulk export task grades by grade level.

Overview

The task gradebook provides tools for marking, reviewing, and managing assessment results. From the task overview and individual task gradebook pages, teachers can:

  • Open individual tasks and enter marks or comments.
  • View student progress using the progress bar graph.
  • Sort tasks by due date.
  • Show or hide task results for students and parents.
  • Enable Field Checker options to identify areas that may need review.
  • Annotate coursework submissions when submission options are enabled.

Key Concepts

Task results visibility

Grades and comments entered via the Tasks tab are automatically visible to students and parents by default, unless the teacher manually hides assessment results for the task.

Field Checker options

The Show/Hide Gradebook Options button allows teachers to enable or disable Field Checker functions. These options provide a quick overview of areas in the task gradebook that may need further review or completion, such as missing teacher comments.

Points-based task grades

For points-based tasks, ManageBac+ can show both the points earned and the translated grade. For example, 10 (out of 10) / 7 means the student received 10 out of 10 for the task, which translates to an IB Grade of 7 using the grade scale for that class.
