Getting Started with ManageBac+ AI: Writing Assistant

Important

Note: ManageBac+ AI Writing Assistant is available in all regions except for the China region. We are investigating how to comply with China’s requirements currently and will come back on a timeline when this will be available there.

 

Enabling ManageBac+ AI: Writing Assistant for the School

To begin, any ManageBac+ Administrator can enable the Writing Assistant feature for your school via Settings > School Settings > ManageBac+ AI > Request Integration.

Once clicked, the button will change to Waiting for Integration and the Support Team will be in touch within 24hrs to help enable this feature for the school.

 

Enabling ManageBac+ AI: Writing Assistant Permission for Teacher & Advisor Users

By default, Writing Assistant is only enabled for Admin users. If you wish for your Teacher & Advisor users to also access this feature, you can enable this via Settings > Security & Permissions > Teachers & Advisors > ManageBac+ AI > tick ‘Writing Assistant’.

You can also enable/disable this feature for specific Teacher & Advisor users via Settings > Security & Permissions > Teachers & Advisors > Individual Permissions and ticking ‘Writing Assistant’ for individual teachers.

Getting Started

Once ManageBac+ AI: Writing Assistant is enabled, users will be able to see the Ask AI feature showing in any Rich Text Editor in their ManageBac+ account. There are two ways of using the Writing Assistant feature:

Create new content

Teachers can use AI to create new content by giving it simple instructions. This can be done by clicking on Ask AI and entering the instructions via Tell AI to generate…

Once a response is generated, you can customize the AI-generated text to fit your needs with our prompt-engineered shortcuts and easily keep or delete it with Keep or Discard.

Below are the available prompt-engineered shortcuts:

  • More accessible
  • Fewer words
  • More Verbose
  • Check grammar and spelling
  • Translate To:
    English, Spanish, German, Arabic, French, Mandarin, Japanese or Korean

 

Modify existing content

Teachers can also use ‘Ask AI’ to modify existing content added in the Rich Text Editor. They can do this by highlighting the text > Ask AI and use any custom instructions.

General FAQs

Is the feature available on Mobile?

  • Currently, the Writing Assistant feature can be used on the web and mobile browsers only. It is not available in our ManageBac+ App for iOS and Android.

How is the school data protected?

  • ManageBac+ does not use any personal information from students or teachers to train its AI model or share this information with anyone outside of the school such as 3rd parties. Please review ManageBac+ AI: Technical Information for more details.

How does ManageBac+ ensure responsible use of AI?

  • Faria has implemented strict guidelines to ensure the ethical and responsible use of AI. For a detailed overview of our policies and principles regarding AI usage, please refer to our AI Acceptable Usage Policy at https://www.faria.org/ai-acceptable-usage-policy

What information is passed to the LLM model?

  • The Writing Assistant AI does not pull data or context from the page or other sources. For example if a user types "Can you create an assessment for the current unit plan" or "Can you create a report card comment for John based on their grades for summative assessments?", the AI will not know which unit plan is being referred to, nor will it know of any past grades or assessments for John.
