The ManageBac+ AI Writing Assistant helps users draft and improve text directly within supported Rich Text Editors across the platform. Once enabled, it can be used to generate new content or revise existing content based on written instructions.

Overview
The Writing Assistant is available within Rich Text Editors in ManageBac+ once the feature has been enabled for the school. Administrators can control access centrally and decide whether Teacher and Advisor users should also be able to use it.
Users can work with the feature in two main ways. They can generate entirely new content from a prompt, or they can highlight existing text and request revisions, simplifications, corrections, or translations.

The Writing Assistant must first be enabled by a ManageBac+ Administrator before it becomes available for use.
Permission-based access
By default, the feature is enabled only for Admin users. Teacher and Advisor access can be granted through default permissions or individual permissions.
Two main usage methods
Users can either create new content from scratch or modify existing content by selecting text and providing instructions.
Prompt shortcuts
After content is generated, users can apply prompt shortcuts such as More accessible, Fewer words, More verbose, Check grammar and spelling, and translation shortcuts for supported languages.

The Writing Assistant is currently available on web and mobile browsers. It is not yet available in the ManageBac+ mobile apps for iOS or Android.

Enable the Writing Assistant for the school
Navigation path: Settings > School Settings > ManageBac AI > AI Suite
- Go to Settings > School Settings > ManageBac AI > AI Suite.
- Locate the Writing Assistant option.
- Enable Writing Assistant for the school.
Enable default access for Teacher and Advisor users
Navigation path: Settings > Security & Permissions > Teachers & Advisors > Default Permissions
- Go to Settings > Security & Permissions > Teachers & Advisors > Default Permissions.
- Locate the Writing Assistant permission.
- Enable the permission if Teacher and Advisor users should be able to access the feature by default.
Enable or disable access for individual Teacher and Advisor users
Navigation path: Settings > Security & Permissions > Teachers & Advisors > Individual Permissions
- Go to Settings > Security & Permissions > Teachers & Advisors > Individual Permissions.
- Select the relevant teacher or advisor.
- Locate Writing Assistant within the available permissions.
- Enable or disable the permission as needed for that individual user.
Create new content with Ask AI
Navigation path: Any Rich Text Editor > Ask AI
- Open any supported Rich Text Editor in ManageBac+.
- Click Ask AI.
- Enter instructions in Tell AI to generate….
- Review the generated content.
- Select Keep to insert the text into the editor, or Discard to remove it.
Example prompt:
Write a short task description about Cyrano de Bergerac for Grade 10 students. Explain what they will read, what they need to analyse, and what they will submit. Keep it clear, engaging, and age-appropriate.
Once a response has been generated, you can refine the text using prompt shortcuts before deciding whether to keep or discard the result.
Modify existing content with Ask AI
Navigation path: Any Rich Text Editor > highlight text > Ask AI
- Open any supported Rich Text Editor in ManageBac+.
- Highlight the text you would like to revise.
- Click Ask AI.
- Enter instructions to revise, refine, simplify, correct, or translate the selected text.
- Review the result and choose whether to keep the revised text.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use clear and specific prompts to improve the quality of generated responses.
- State the audience, task type, and expected outcome in your prompt where possible.
- Review AI-generated content carefully before keeping it in the editor.
- Use prompt shortcuts to make text more accessible, shorter, more detailed, grammatically accurate, or translated into another supported language.
- When modifying existing content, highlight only the portion of text you want the Writing Assistant to work with.

Regional availability
ManageBac+ AI Writing Assistant is available in all regions except for the China region. We are currently investigating how to comply with China’s regulatory requirements and will share an update once a timeline for availability has been confirmed.
- By default, Writing Assistant access is available only to Admin users until additional permissions are enabled.
- The Writing Assistant can currently be used on web and mobile browsers. It is not yet available in the ManageBac+ mobile apps for iOS or Android.
