Teacher Permissions to create Classes
Teachers can be granted permissions to create classes via the Settings > Security & Permissions > Teachers & Advisors.
By default, permissions are set to None.
Full Access will provide teachers with all options located in the right navigational menu of the Classes Roster. These include bulk assign (students, teachers and terms), lock classes, import timetable, assign teachers & IDs, bulk create classes, add new class, etc.
Add New Class will only allow teachers to create classes and will exclude all the other Administrator options.
These permissions can also be set for individual teachers in the Individual Permissions tab.
Please also refer to our Adding Classes via Bulk Import article for additional information on creating multiple classes at once.
Accessing all Classes
You can find a list of classes you are teaching via the left-hand menu Classes dropdown.
The dropdown displays a maximum of 10 classes. The last viewed class/most recently accessed classes will get added to the list. If you are a teacher in more than 10 classes; classes will rotate in and out according to what was most recently accessed.
Note: You need to firstly access a class on ManageBac (via Classes > See all classes > Select the class) in order to populate it to the left-hand class list dropdown.
You can sort your list of classes via My Classes or Browse All Classes tabs at the top of the screen. You can search the list by class name, description or class ID.
Filter by Programme, Grade, Subject and Teacher via Browse All Classes
In the top right corner of the Classes list, click the Filters button to open the filter options.
Here you can filter for classes based on their:
- Programme (ie MYP)
- Grade level (ie MYP 1)
- Subject group (ie Language & Literature)
- Teacher
Click the blue Filter button to apply these settings, or Reset to clear all filters.
You can additionally search archived classes by clicking Show archived Classes.
Search by Class Name
It is also possible to filter classes by class Name. At the top of the page, type the class name or number into the 'Global Search' box. If classes are unlocked on your school's account, you will be able to join additional classes via Join.
Pin a Class to your Menu
The left-hand classes dropdown will display a maximum of 10 most recently accessed classes. If you wish to keep a class pinned in the list (ie it does not rotate out when accessing other classes), navigate to the Class Overview > click Pin to Main Menu. To remove a class, click Unpin from Main Menu. The coloured dots next to class names on the main menu relate to the programme of the class and are not customizable. (DP Blue, MYP Green etc).
