Managing Tasks with GDoc Templates

Task View

After creating a task with GDoc templates each student will be able to access it through the GDoc editor within MB if their Google Drive account matches the e-mail address in their Profile.

Until the students open the Task the status will be reported as Waiting afterwards it will be set to In Progress. Lastly, after the GDoc file has been submitted the status will change to Submitted.

Clicking on the student name will open the GDoc Editor, Annotations and Comments tabs.

Google Docs Editor

Using the left navigation menu you can browse users and in the mane pane Teachers and Admin can make changes to the live document.
Additional options include:

  • Submitting a student's documents. Once a document is submitted student permissions are set to View only in the GDoc and the Vantage Reader is able to extract a PDF copy to be used for annotation.
  • Locking documents - independent of submitting a document. It allows for preventing a student from making changes without submitting the document.
  • Reset submissions - If students need to make revisions teachers are able to reset their submission which will revert the status to In Progress.

Annotate using the Vantage Reader

Once a submission is made either by the teacher or the student the Vantage Reader will be able to extract a PDF copy to be annotated. If multiple submissions have been made (by clicking Reset and resubmitting the document), then they will all be available via the dropdown menu.
For smaller screen sizes the annotation comment boxes will not be displayed in the right navigational panel. To resolve this adjust your browser screen zoom to accommodate all UI elements.

Communicating via Comments

Teachers and students can communicate via the Comments tab. Simply select the student from the left navigational menu, add a comment, and click Post Note.
