Creating DP Unit Plans


Via the Assignments & Units tab in your class

In your class, click the Assignments & Units tab. To add a new unit, click Add Unit on the right navigation panel. If you wish to edit an existing unit, click the Unit Name.

Once you have clicked the Unit Name, click Edit Unit to edit the unit.

Adding a Unit

Create a title for your unit, select the start date and length of the unit in weeks. Click Save Changes. This will create the unit and allow you to add further details in the next sections.

Note: Units will automatically be shared with other classes that have the same subject and grade level.

On the Summary, Inquiry & Purpose tab, you can edit the title, subject, levels (HL or SL) and duration. You can choose to share the unit between grades, save it as a draft, or archive the unit. In the Inquiry section you can add Essential Understandings and Inquiry Questions.

At the end of the page, click Save and Next.  This will save the changes and take you to the next page.

Under Stream & Resources, you can add Assignments, websites, files, videos, and other data to complement your teaching and to support your assessment tasks.  

Use the stream by dragging and dropping to organise resources and assessment tasks from a Unit planner in a sequence for your students. This creates a step-by-step numbered list for students & teachers to follow. (Note that all resources in the stream will be shared with students). Click the 'arrow down' icon to remove an item from the stream.

The Curriculum tab shows 4 sub-tabs for relevant curriculum information for DP Unit Plans

On the Aims & Objectives tab, you can select from built in items from the IB according to the subject guide for the subject of the class.

After selecting Aims and Objectives, click Save and Next to continue.

Under the Syllabus Content tab, select syllabus content for the unit. At the end of the page, click Save and Next.

On the Standards tab, you can select from local standards/skills added to your account. Click Save and Next when finished.

This page will be blank if Standards have not been added to your account.

You can add additional content and skills information in the Content & Skills tab

Under the Assessment tab, you can add Assignments to the unit based on SL and HL and describe how you will use Assessment within with text boxes.

You can also select the Criteria to be assessed via Assignments through the unit. The Assignment Criteria have been built in based on IB subject guides.

At the end of the page, click Save and Next.

On the Learning Experiences tab, you can speak to the Learning Experiences, Teaching Strategies, the Learning Process, Activities and Differentiation. Click Save & Next at the bottom of the page to progress to the Connections tab.

On the Connections tab, select and add ATLs and add coverage details and notes as well as how the Learner Profile will be addressed through this unit. Furthermore, you can speak to opportunities for Language and Learning, ToK and CAS connections. Click Save and Next when complete.

Under Reflections & Evaluations, you can reflect on the success of the unit Prior, During, and After the unit. This tab is organized by academic year, so your historical reflections and evaluation comments will be automatically saved for future academic years.
