Planning Interdisciplinary Units follows the same procedures as planning MYP Next Chapter units, with the exception of a few differences.
Under the Classes tab, select the class in question. Next, select the Tasks & Units tab. To add a new unit, click on Add Unit, or select an existing unit and click Edit Unit in the sidebar.
Within Inquiry & Purpose > Summary, click "Mark as Interdisciplinary Unit." Please note that the unit will be shared with the selected subject(s) and grade level(s). Click Saves Changes to continue.
Guidance text is available within each section to help you along the unit planning process.
The unit has now been converted to an Interdisciplinary Unit. Within the Global Context section in the Inquiry & Purpose tab, you will be prompted to select possible explorations to develop and describe the subjects.
You can add Objectives & Criteria under the Assessment tab for each subject.
The remaining tabs steps are consistent with the MYP Next Chapter planner. Complete the steps to and Save Changes.
Note that the unit planner will show all tasks associated with it. This means that there may be multiple tasks from another class of the same subject appearing in your unit planner. The radials on the PDF planner show the class mean of the Interdisciplinary Criteria marks given in the Submit Term Grades of the Gradebook.
MYP interdisciplinary criteria can be assessed via the class Gradebook > Term Grades tab.
1. Select the ID Assessment checkbox
2. Assess all four criteria to see a total ID sum. If not all four criteria are assessed the ID sum will appear as N/A.
Note that the same ID Assessment follows the student to the gradebook of each class that they are a part of, allowing for teachers of various subjects to be able to assess the same student according to the shared interdisciplinary criteria.
The Interdisciplinary Criteria Assessment can then be enabled from the Summary tab of the MYP Report to show on report cards. Click here for further guidance on creating MYP Report Templates.
